Established in 1995, The Gateshead Childrens Arts & Theatre Schools (C.A.T.S.) is passionate about offering children and young people (male and female) the opportunity to learn the skills required for the performing arts in a disciplined, happy and safe environment.
As a direct result of this passion, since opening, the school has more than doubled in number and in 2000 a second school had to be opened at the Hardman Centre in Low Fell to cater for the increase in children under the age of 11.
We are recognised as one of the best stage schools in the North East. Indeed, many pupils enjoy classes so much that they are prepared to make round trips of between 20 and 40 miles every Saturday morning!
We at C.A.T.S. are committed to providing the best but we also expect the same in return from our pupils – we require them to attend regularly, enjoy themselves, make new friends, have fun and most importantly look forward to Saturday mornings.
Sounds like a good way to spend your weekend? Why not come and join us or try a free class? You’ll be the envy of all your friends! We don’t hold auditions for entry or expect you to participate on your first day if you don’t want to – simply attend our free ‘feeler’ classes and decide for yourself whether you think the school's for you.
